  • Kaprun High Mountain Reservoirs

    Kaprun Hochgebirgsstauseen

In the neighboring Pinzgau region there is a special natural spectacle that awaits to be visited. The Kaprun high-altitude reservoirs are set like two fjords in the rear Kaprun valley, while above them tower the imposing three-thousand-meter peaks of the Alps. The structures were erected in the post-war period and still exude the myth of this time of a new dawn. An overwhelming technical achievement was realized here in the middle of the Alps. This also includes Europe’s largest open inclined lift, on which you can travel to the high mountain reservoirs. The neighboring via ferrata Höhenburg with its various via ferrata and sport climbing opportunities for children and adults is one of the highlights of the region. By the way, the world’s highest via ferrata on a dam, the Mobo 107, is also waiting to be conquered. Here nature lovers and adventurers get their money’s worth – in the middle of the high alpine world of the High Tauern mountains at over 2,000 meters above sea level.
