The panoramic tour
Discover Hohensalzburg Fortress on your own: the highlights of the interactive tour include a large 3D salt model of the Old Town and an ingenious horn mechanism that visitors can use to make the melodies of the Salzburg Bull sound themselves. The panoramic tour is complemented by lovingly designed mechanical peep-boxes where children can playfully immerse themselves in the history of the building and the Salzburg legends.
The Prince’s Chambers
The magnificent princely chamber of the fortress are among the most beautiful late Gothic secular rooms in Europe. In the lovingly designed Magic Theater, you will take a fascinating journey through time in the footsteps of the builder Leonhard von Keutschach. An experience for all senses!

Accessibility & important information for your visit
Barrier-free access to Hohensalzburg Fortress is possible via the fortress railway. The footpath to the fortress is not barrier-free due to the steepness. Please note that there are many steps and inclines in the fortress, which make accessibility difficult. The panorama terrace and the bastion in the area of the mountain station are freely accessible. An elevator in the bell tower gives you access to the castle courtyard, the exhibition in the armory, the tavern, the Kuenburgbastei and the Marionette Museum. The inner areas of the fortress are not barrier-free accessible.
The Hohensalzburg Fortress draws everyone's attention from afar, rewarding its visitors with a magnificent view of the heart of the world-famous baroque city and the fantastic mountains around Salzburg. It's actually easy to explain: if you haven't been to the fortress, you haven't been to Salzburg.

Visitors can reach the fortress via the old town either with the fortress railway or on foot (approx. 30 minutes). Use one of the parking spaces near the center.
