WELCOME WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT AT FORT KNIEPASS
Located just 40 kilometres south of Salzburg, Fort Kniepass is the new year-round destination in the Salzburg Saalachtal valley, combining culture, action and cuisine: the adventure trail on the theme of borders, which leads up to the medieval fort. The historic walls, where an exciting exhibition brings history to life. The longest and highest tube slide in the Alps. And last but not least: top-class cuisine that focuses on regionality and the culinary theme of ‘fermentation’. An unforgettable excursion for the whole family!
ADVENTURE TRAIL & EXHIBITION
Discover the many different types of borders at the 12 stations along the adventure trail, which leads from the visitor centre in the valley up to the fort. And find out what type of border you are with the accompanying booklet ‘My Knee Pass’. Once at the top, the adventure trail continues through the medieval fort, where exciting displays and exhibits explore the theme of borders in greater depth and bring the history of the historic walls to life.
THE ACTION SLIDE
On your marks, get set, slide! Wrapped in felt beanbags, you'll slide down the longest and highest tube slide in the Alps. In other words: 150 metres of thrilling sliding action at speeds of up to 35 km/h! After a 55-metre drop and a 16-second slide, the most frequently asked question is: ‘Again?’
THE GASTRONOMY
The Fort Kniepass Kulinarik restaurant serves specialities made from regional ingredients. Take a seat! Inside the modern restaurant or outside in the cosy garden. The bistro offers delicious snacks to take away. And here's another insider tip for health-conscious people, gourmets and connoisseurs: Fort Kniepass is also a centre for the culinary art of fermentation. Taste, savour, marvel – and discover the workshops!
