On 25 June 2025, Grossglockner Hochalpenstrassen AG (GROHAG) celebrated a very special anniversary: the 90th anniversary of the Grossglockner High Alpine Road - the largest monument in the Republic of Austria and one of the most impressive panoramic roads in Europe.
A special highlight of the evening was the exclusive premiere of the new ORF documentary ‘Österreich Bild - 90 Jahre Großglockner Hochalpenstraße’, which will be broadcast on ORF 2 on 13 July 2025 at 18:30. The programme offers a fascinating insight into the history, expansion and current significance of this Alpine masterpiece.
Also impressive was the newly published anniversary brochure (German only!), which reviews over a century of history - from the original idea and construction to its current function as a sustainable transport and tourism route in the Hohe Tauern National Park.
