At Schöneck along the Grossglockner High Alpine Road, families and nature enthusiasts can discover two new attractions: the exhibition “Glockner Meadows – Between Glacial Ice and a Sea of Flowers” and the new HighFive playground dedicated to the Apollo butterfly.
The exhibition focuses on the remarkable flora and fauna of the species-rich mountain meadows around the Grossglockner. Interactive stations as well as light and sound elements show how plants cope with wind, cold and short growing seasons. The importance of pollinators, traditional mountain meadow management and climate research is also presented in an engaging way.
Right next to the exhibition, the new playground invites children to climb, slide and explore. The Apollo butterfly takes centre stage, with its development from egg to caterpillar and finally to butterfly presented in a playful and informative way.
